Codi Jordans Album “Vacation” Chosen by Weber State 88.1 fm As “Local Album of the Year.”

1st Codi Jordan Band “Vacation”

In explaining the type of music featured in “Vacation”, the band’s myspace says it all ”….features rock-driven music based on songs written by Codi Jordan that combine elements of Reggae, Folk, and Hip Hop…….Fans often refer to the style as high energy Jack Johnson, combined with the rawness of Sublime.”

And this is exactly what I’m talking about when I refer to a ’sound’. As I was listening to the album, I felt the same as what the description flatly states.

There were aspects of Reggae, Folk and Hip Hop but they were combined in a semi-unique way, although I’ll be the first to admit that I doubt they are the only ones to ever do this. In addition there were times when the music had a sort of Jack Johnson or Sublime feel to it. However, they use these artists as more of a template to making a successful album as opposed to picking one popular artist and blatantly ripping them off.

In addition, the songs were well written and catchy (but not too catchy if you know what I’m saying). And it helps that the album features one of my favorite singles of the year ‘Thumbmasta’. A song entirely about drinking games. How can you go wrong?
